benjamin/ mimetic faculty
is the most ancient: reading before all languages,
from the entrails, the stars, or dances. Later the
mediating link of a new kind of reading, of runes
and hieroglyphs, came into use. Its seems fair to
suppose that these were the stages by which the
mimetic gift, which was once the foundation of
occult practices gained admittance to writing
and language.

The Commune of 1871
On 12 April 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel into outer space. In his space capsule he carried the remnant of the red flag flown over the Hotel de Ville in the heart of the Paris Commune in 1870.
Whereas Tegmark emphasises spatial repetition and variation (the idea that there is another “you” reading this article right now), Blanqui additionally highlights temporal repetition, leading him to conclude that progress is illusory; everything that can possibly happen has already occurred. It was this aspect that led Benjamin to see Blanqui’s cosmology as a precursor to the doctrine of eternal recurrence in Nietzsche’s Thus Spake Zarathustra (1883-5).
In The Arcades Project, Benjamin considers Blanqui’s significance as both revolutionary conspirator and pseudo-scientist, concluding that Blanqui’s cosmology is a capitulation to the principles of bourgeois capitalism that Blanqui had spent all his life fighting against. Blanqui’s multiverse is, says Benjamin, “the phantasmagoria of history”, a nightmare projection of capitalism itself.

Faint star, Star, Star

Blaze, Stripe, Stripe (or thin blaze) and snip, Irregular blaze, Interrupted stripe, bald face.
Faint star, Star, Star and strip, irregular star, snip, lip marking
There was a whole collection made. A damp cloth, an oyster, a single mirror, a manikin, a student, a silent star, a single spark, a little movement and the bed is made. This shows the disorder, it does, it shows more likeness than anything else, is shows the single mind that directs an apple. All the coats have a different shape, that does not mean that they differ in colour, it means a unison between use and exercise and a horse.

| 13. Pied Beauty |
| GLORY be to God for dappled things— | |
| For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow; | |
| For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim; | |
| Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings; | |
| Landscape plotted and pieced—fold, fallow, and plough; | 5 |
| And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim. | |
| All things counter, original, spare, strange; | |
| Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?) | |
| With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim; | |
| He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change: | 10 |
| Praise him. |

Melencolia/ true colours

Melencolia coloured in retrospectively according to the heraldic convention of hatching. The noonday demon has goldfinch plumage and the dog looks like the now extinct thylacine.
But deep down this eternity of man through the stars is melancholy, and sadder still this sequestration of brother-worlds through the barrier of space.

samrat yantra

Samrat Yantra, an equinoctial dial, consisting of a triangular gnomon with the hypotenuse parallel to the earth's axis. Also seen on either side of the gnomon is a quadrant of a circle parallel to the plane of the equator. Further away is the Ram Yantra, one of two circular structures used for calculating the horizontal (azimuth) and vertical (altitude) angles of heavenly bodies.

Revisiting Romania: Dress and Identity explores how Romanian folk art has been used to express identity and nationhood in Romania in the 19th and 20th centuries, including its use as a political tool during the Ceaușescu years.
Many of the objects were donated in 1957 following an exhibition at the Horniman, which was organised from behind the Iron Curtain.
